Identification of Iron Reducing Bacteria from Kaolin of Different Mining Sites in Northern Nigeria for Potential Bioleaching Activity

Kaolin is a naturally occurring raw material for several industrial applications. Moreover, the economy of using has some restrictions due to presence iron-bearing impurities in form oxides and hydroxides. This negative effect on whiteness refractoriness products production high purity ceramics. The application microbial leaching been regarded as cheap bio-friendly than conventional methods, hence this study investigates isolation potential iron reducing bacteria capable providing efficient bioleaching. Bacteria was carried out serial dilution plating techniquesResult molecular, morphological biochemical analyses reveal many bacterial isolates that includes Acinobacter spp., Aeromonas Clostridium Klebsiella Pseudomonas spp. Sporanaerobacter species were identified more closely related Geobacter are reported be good bacteria. may suggest possible candidate strain could provide bioleaching activity. Result X-ray Fluorescence spectrometry prior identification indigenous found contain following oxides; Fe2O3, SiO2, A12O3, MgO, P2O5, SO3, TiO2, MnO CaO which confirmed identity samples collected. highest oxide SiO2.
